If it matters to America’s women gun owners, it’s in Women & Guns, the only magazine of its kind in the world.
Written and edited by women, for women, the emphasis is on self-defense and personal protection, including real life encounters, with a large dose of recreational shooting, too. We also include role-model women gun owner profiles, personal protection tips, product reviews, and a useful legal column!
Women & Guns isn’t just another gun magazine. We deal with issues differently, practically. A lot of men like it, too. We don’t get bogged down in excessively technical jargon. Instead we tell you what you need to know, whether a product or technique is really useful or not. If something is supposed to be childproof, we turn some imaginative kids loose on it, and report the results honestly.
Women & Guns was founded by Sonny Jones, but “rescued” in 1989 by The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), the legal and educational nonprofit, based in Bellevue, WA. The magazine, under the leadership of Publisher Julianne Versnel Gottlieb and Executive Editor Peggy Tartaro, was printed for 30 years and mailed to subscribers throughout the country. The January 2019 issue was the last print edition of the publication.
Tartaro said, “Although we are sad to give up the print edition of Women & Guns, we are pleased that its legacy will continue, and thrilled that AG & AG will take the helm of the first publication designed for and by women gun owners.”
A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) acquired the publication in January 2019 with a focus on digital delivery of content, news, and information.
“We are honored to be able to continue the heritage of Women & Guns, and to build on its 30 years of serving women gun owners,” said Robyn Sandoval, AG & AG’s Executive Director.
